As the new member of the wolfpack we welcome Tom Diener, who will take place on the holy drumseat in the future. Ave everyone!

Today it’s less than 2 weeks left until we kick off our massive tour throughout Europe, a tour that we dubbed “A DECLARATION OF HATE - EUROPEAN TOUR 2010”.

41 shows across 17 countries are lined up, so this will be a massive trek indeed. The tour premiere will be held in Skövde, Valhall, Sweden on March 5th, and we will round up with a hometown show (Stockholm, Sweden) on April 19th.

As support, we will bring with us some truly killer acts too: Zonaria (SE), Carach Angren (NL), Nefarium (IT). On the UK dates Akercocke will join the horde, too.

On March 3rd-4th we have rented a theater where we are going to hold some serious pre-production rehearsals. You know, to plan the last few details and make sure that everything works and goes as we’ve planned. Can’t fucking wait for that! Anyway, I’ll make sure we get some images shot from it and posted on the web, hopefully on the 4th already!

We have also prepared a killer setlist. And I’m absolutely sure that it’ll please both old and new fans of the band.

Since it’s almost five years since we last toured Europe we have planned and prepared to bring out our biggest production yet. So be prepared for a HELL of a show!!!

Not only will this be the biggest production we have ever brought out on the road, it will also be the longest tour we’ve done since 2001 (Diabolis Interium). And we’re totally looking forward to it!

The writing process is well under way and a title is already set:

Front man Michael Poulsen explains: “The Album title is “Beyond Hell/Above Heaven” (no reference to religious beliefs). The title refers to the overall theme of the album, and it continues the storyline from where “Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood” left off…”

The album will be released in September throughout Europe. The band are very excited about the writing process, carrying the songs into both extreme metallic territory, punk variations and some very catchy stuff at the same time. On top Volbeat is bringing in various guest appearances.

Michael continues:
“We have fast, slow and mid-tempo songs. We still blend different styles of punk, rock’n’roll, rockabilly, metal, heavy metal, thrash metal, country – we still keep it very open, it’s just music! I cannot say too much about it right now, but we’re really excited about it and it’s going to be very, very cool. Again we’re going to give people something they haven’t heard before. We always try to do something special and different on each and every album.”

After the more experimental last JOP album “Global Warning” from 2008, the songs of the new album are going “back to the basics” again. Less slow tracks, more Metal!

Like the master announced it some time ago, “Festival” could be described as a mix of “Hall Of The Mountain King” (Savatage) and the second JON OLIVA`S PAIN album “Maniacal Renderings”.

Epic compositions encounter with rough, heavy rockers, all melt together by Jon´s unique style of composing. This album marks the next step in the continuing legacy of the “Mountain King”. It´s once again a unique and unmatched piece of work by one of the scene´s last originals.

After a very successful year 2009 including shows in Japan, Russia and all over Europe, DEADLOCK won´t allow themselves a break and start the new year with another bang of good news.

We're about to wrap up yet another busy year for us. It's been a great pleasure to tour the Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood album. We've never played for so many dedicated fans. It took us to almost every good festival and venue in Europe and to USA for 2 tours.

The first part of 2010 are planned for continuing writing songs for our next album. We'll hit the studio in April and album release is planned for the fall. During the summer we'll play a handful of festivals in Europe and will tour full throttle in the

New Album Out on February 1st, 2010

Extensive European Tour in February/March with GAMMA RAY

If you ask Freedom Call fans abou t the outstanding characteristics of their favourite band, they tend to list two main qualities: melodic and up-tempo. Both attributes will come to bear again on February 1st (Germany: January 29th), when vocalist/guitarist Chris Bay, drummer Dan Zimmermann, guitarist Lars Rettkowitz and the new bassist Samy Saemann , release their current album, Legend Of The Shadowking, proving emphatically that Freedom Call are still among the most passionate and dynamic German metal acts.

Stylistically, Legend Of The Shadowking is a successful liaison of the group’s basic strengths and new, contemporary influences. Or, as Dan Zimmermann puts it: “Even if the two predecessors, The Circle Of Life and Dimensions, took very different directions, both albums had a number of strong moments. Legend Of The Shadowking combines the most successful elements from both albums, in other words: we included our penchant for fast and very melodic numbers from Dimensions with the more contemporary, bombastic components of The Circle Of Life.”

The fourteen new numbers were recorded at the FC studios in Nuremberg, while the drum parts were cut at the Area 51 in Celle by Dan Zimmermann with the support of Tommy Newton (Helloween, UFO, Victory), who also mixed and mastered Legend Of The Shadowking. The cover artwork was designed by the young bavarian artist Jens Reinhold.

The new album covers musically and lyric wise a concept about Ludwig II, King of Bavaria. He had a close connection to the composer Richard Wagner. Freedom Call was moved and inspired by King Ludwig's extravagance and his passion to musical theatricality.

Freedom Call are scheduled to play a full european tour with Gamma Ray around the album’s release date, followed by various summer festivals and a headliner tour in autumn.

Since so many of you have been writing lately asking when the hell we will start touring for our new masterpiece “Angelus Exuro pro Eternus”, I guess it’s about time to let you know what’s in the plans.

Our booking agency DRAGON PRODUCTIONS is currently hard at work on booking a massive European tour for us that will go under the name “A DECLARATION OF HATE - EUROPEAN TOUR 2010”. It seems like ages ago since we last toured Europe, so we are extremely excited for this tour. Europe is naturally the very first territory on the list to conquer, and then we’ll see where we head next. We will keep you updated of course!

Furthermore DARK FUNERAL shot a video for one of the new tracks, "My Funeral", over the August 21-23 weekend at the Abyss Studios. Lord Ahriman explains: "The video was shot in and outside an old and closed mental hospital. The environment was just killer. And besides, it suited the video theme perfect! The video is currently under editing by Standard Film Team. And within the next two-three weeks it should be ready for the world premiere. However, due to the graphic violence and somewhat gory nature of the video, I would assume that we will be forced to edit two versions, one soft and one hard core version. After their first tour in May in North America Volbeat got now asked by METALLICA to open up the second half of their DEATH MAGNETIC TOUR 09. These 15 Shows will take place in the biggest venues in the US and Canada. These breaking news reached Volbeat in Norway when the band was supposed to enter the stage at Quart Festival. Michael Poulsens comments a few  days later from back home.
