ARTILLERY signs to Metal Blade!

22. July 2013

artillery-band1Metal Blade is welcoming legendary Danish Thrashers ARTILLERY to their arsenal!

Denmark’s ARTILLERY is easily appointed one of Europe’s earliest exponents of Thrash Metal, and the band’s contribution to the bourgeoning genre is difficult to ignore. The Danish quartet successfully managed to fuse an abrasive brutality with technicality and strong melodies, with the noteworthy guitar leads of the Stützer-brothers serving as highlights.

ARTILLERY was formed in the Copenhagen suburb of Taastrup, Denmark in 1982 by Michael and Morten Stützer. Since then ARTILLERY have gone thru numerous line-up changes and released six studio longplayers. The first period of ARTILLERY’s existence gave the World the three classic albums Fear of Tomorrow, Terror Squad and By Inheritance featuring some of the finest moments of Thrash Metal Europe has ever put out.

After an eight-year hiatus ARTILLERY returned in style in 1999, sounding as fresh and hungry as ever before without sounding like one of those nostalgia acts. The three albums B.A.C.K., When Death Comes and My Blood put ARTILLERY not only back on the map, but also to the top of their genre.

Comments ARTILLERY on the signing: "Artillery is very proud to have signed with legendary Metal Blade Records! Metal Blade is the company who released Metallica’s first song, Slayer’s and Trouble’s debut records and who in their line-up have our fellow Danes Mercyful Fate/King Diamond signed. With their over 30 years of experience in the business this is a big step forward for Artillery. We can’t wait to have our new album released on Metal Blade, and we are looking forward to promote it with our first American tour ever. We also want to thank Metal Mind and Agnieszka for the last 5 years!"

Since the release of their last album My Blood in 2011 ARTILLERY have played European and US tours and appeared at several festivals and the Barge To Hell cruise. In 2012 ARTILLERY saw the departure of Carsten N. Nielsen and Søren Adamsen. Two new members were recruited, making Josua Madsen the new drummer and Michael Bastholm Dahl the new singer. Touring plans for the rest of 2013 include the U.S. as well as South America, making the band tour extensively for the rest of the year. NEW BAND – FACEBREAKER

19. July 2013

Facebreaker were formed in 1999, following a conversation between Janne, Roberth, Mikael and Jonas.
They had similar music tastes and decided to start a brutal and straight-forward metal band. A few
rehearsal-sessions later they added lead guitarist Janos to their line-up. Facebreakers first demo "Use Your Fist" facebreaker_band1was recorded at a local studio in the ginning of the new millennium.
In March 2001 they went back to the studio to record a promo demo called "Hate and Anger". 2002 U.K.
based Rage of Achilles Records got hold of their promo and offered the and a deal. A Rage of Achilles compilation album called Conquest For The Empire" was out in April, featuring Facebreaker along with other new signings on the label. In September Janos quit the band due to lack of time. Fortunately they knew a guitar-player named Mika and a line-up change took place.

KONG – NEW DRUMMER ANNOUNCED

10. July 2013

We’ve got a new drummer!

Although it wasn’t easy to find a follow-up drummer for Mandy we finally succeeded to hook a suitable replacement in the person of Oscar Alblas. Recently we’ve started rehearsing with him and he’s proved to be perfectly able to handle the old KONG stuff as well as the material from the last incarnation of KONG.
Oscar is a classical trained youngster(!) with a broad experience in musical styles varying from orchestral works to metal. He is as eager as we are to work on the new album and to climb the stages a.s.a.p.
We’ll keep you posted!

FINNTROLL announce “Blodsvept Over Europe Tour 2013

24. May 2013

The trolls of Nordic folklore are believed to be dirty creatures of enormous strength and appetite. Their grotesque physique grants them a comic
element, although the humour tends to be on the grim side as these nocturne beings hunger for human flesh. Unsurprisingly, this has earned them a rather bad
reputation. All things considered, Finntroll are the perfect embodiment of all aforementioned sentiments – although one might want to replace the
hunger for human meat with an unquenchable thirst for booze.

With their sixth full-length “Blodsvept” that came out a few weeks ago in March 2013 through Century Media Records, FINNTROLL returned to the fierce
harshness of their blackened origins without giving up the perfect balance between darkened metal ferocity and melodic elements inspired by folk
music from Finland and far beyond. In the words of the US Decibel magazine:
“From Dick Dale-infused death’n’roll, amped-up infernal Big Band swing and raucous, chugged-out fe-fi-fo-fum stomps to unadulterated power metal, Mr.
Bungle-esque carnival weirdness and something akin to the Pogues in a methamphetamine-fueled jam session with In Flames.” Or like the British
tabloid newspaper The Sun wrote: "If Mordor had a premier comedy club, Finntroll would be the resident band."

After a handful of exclusive release shows in May, FINNTROLL are now proud to announce a full length tour to spread blood over Europe. Expect a
spectacular show with old and new classics. Their friends TYR from the Faroe Islands and Skalmõld from Iceland will support them for nights you will
never forget.

An US tour will follow in November. Canadian fans are more lucky and can see

FINNTROLL already in August (see dates here). Stay tuned for more news!

Hatesphere – New album & studio update

11. May 2013

We’ve entered the Antfarm Studio in Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (Moonspell, Sick of it All, The Haunted,DarkTranquillity etc. etc. you know the drill) to begin the recordings of our 8th album. We have worked with Tue on the past many albums as well, and the choice as him as producer was pretty easy. We’ve known and worked with him for many years, and the relaxed but yetprofessional atmosphere this co-operation gives us, makes the best possible album in the end – no doubt about it. The songs sound great, and we can’t wait to share them with all of you. The album HateSphere1will contain 9 new songs and a cover song, and even though the songs are typical HateSphere-tunes there might be a few surprises for you hidden there. More album details will follow shortly.
In the mean time check out this little update from the studio .

Have a nice summer, everybody!

Cheers

HateSphere

LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA – reveal details on the new album

8. May 2013

On Friday, 2nd of August – apposite to their upcoming show at the Wacken Open Air on the next day – LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA will release their new album, concisely entitled »LMO«.

lmo_albumcover2013

During the past month, the three RAGE musicians Victor Smolski (guitar), Peavy Wagner (vocals and bass) and André Hilgers (drums) worked at full stretch to finish their opulent orchestral project that can be considered a continuation of 1996’s »Lingua Mortis« album – back then a true piece of pioneering work.

The entire album was composed by Victor Smolski who cooperated with two orchestras from Spain and Russia, enlarging the number of this mammoth project’s participants to more than 100. Together with long-term co-producer Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL among others), Victor Smolski produced and mixed the record in "Twilight Hall Studio" Krefeld, Germany. The final mastering is to be done within the next days.

»LMO« follows an exciting concept on the burning of witches in Gelnhausen in 1599, written by vocalist Peavy Wagner and based on a true story. Apart from the three RAGE musicians, two female vocalists belong to LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA’s regular cast: Jeannette Marchewka and soprano singer Dana Harnge. Guest vocals were contributed by Henning Basse (ex-METALLIUM), among others.

The tracklist of »LMO« reads as follows:

01. Cleansed By Fire
a) Convert The Pagans PT. 1
b) The Inquisition (instrumental)
c) Convert The Pagans PT. 2

02. Scapegoat
03. The Devil´s Bride
04. Lament
05. Oremus (instrumental)
06. Witches` Judge
07. Eye For An Eye
08. Afterglow

The cover artwork was created by Felipe Machado Franco who’s also been responsible for the latest RAGE artwork of »21«. The band photos were shot by Pia Kintrup.

On past Saturday, May 4, the rough mix of »LMO« was presented to a group of international journalists. German ROCK IT MAGAZINE’s journalist Martin Stark describes the record as an "opulent metal opera, more orchestral than anything else, partly heavier than RAGE and melodic beyond my wildest dreams from end to end." GUITAR editor Nico Ernst states: "Never before has the combination of band and orchestra worked that well." METAL.DE writer Florian Schörg takes the thought further and judges: "The perfect symbiosis of two worlds sparkles with both fantastic melodies and heaviness. The gigantic spectrum of emotions can be considered the cream topping on this extraordinarily delicious sound cocktail."

A studio trailer can be watched here: http://youtu.be/sypI7_iM6Xc

»LMO« will be out on August 2 via Nuclear Blast.
