OThe Swedish black metal legends DARK FUNERAL is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2013 with a number of festival shows all over Europe. At the Graspop Metal Meeting DARK FUNERAL will play a never seen before exclusive setlist. This very setlist comprises the legendary debut MCD from 1994 (incl. the most popular ʻOpen The Gatesʼ) and the WHOLE classical "The Secrets Of The Black Arts" album from beginning to end – crowned by a special pyro show. The event is also in tribute to the founding member David "Blackmoon" Parland who died earlier this year. Blackmoon left DARK FUNERAL in 1996 after the release of "The Secrets Of The Black Arts" but will always remain an import part of DARK FUNERAL’s legacy.
So don’t miss it and hail the sign of the horns.

Exclusive GRASPOP 2013 setlist:
01 – Open the Gates
02 – Shadows Over Transylvania
03 – My Dark Desires
04 – In the Sign of the Horns
05 – The Secrets of the Black Arts
06 – The Dawn no More Rises
07 – When Angels Forever Die
08 – The Fire Eternal
09 – Satan’s Mayhem
10 – Bloodfrozen
11 – Dark are the Paths To Eternity

Formed in 1993 by Lord Ahriman DARK FUNERAL quickly gained massive underground support by being one of the most ferocious and fastest black metal bands on earth. Since then they have spread their unholy gospel over the whole world and build up a loyal cult following from the coldest parts of the northern hemisphere to the hottest hell of Asia. Emperor Magus Caligula who left the band on good terms for personal reasons in 2010 has taken over the mic again for the 2013 festivals. He was DARK FUNERAL’s frontman from 1996 to 2010 from the second album, "Vobiscum Satanas" (1998) album to the last "Angelus Exuro Pro Eternus" (2009).

A new DARK FUNERAL album is in the works and planned for early 2014 release.

DARK FUNERAL is currently looking for a permanent new vocalist – preferable from Scandinavia. Serious applications can be sent to vocalist@darkfuneral.se.vocalist@darkfuneral.se.

FINNTROLL announce “Blodsvept Over Europe Tour 2013

24. May 2013

The trolls of Nordic folklore are believed to be dirty creatures of enormous strength and appetite. Their grotesque physique grants them a comic
element, although the humour tends to be on the grim side as these nocturne beings hunger for human flesh. Unsurprisingly, this has earned them a rather bad
reputation. All things considered, Finntroll are the perfect embodiment of all aforementioned sentiments – although one might want to replace the
hunger for human meat with an unquenchable thirst for booze.

With their sixth full-length “Blodsvept” that came out a few weeks ago in March 2013 through Century Media Records, FINNTROLL returned to the fierce
harshness of their blackened origins without giving up the perfect balance between darkened metal ferocity and melodic elements inspired by folk
music from Finland and far beyond. In the words of the US Decibel magazine:
“From Dick Dale-infused death’n’roll, amped-up infernal Big Band swing and raucous, chugged-out fe-fi-fo-fum stomps to unadulterated power metal, Mr.
Bungle-esque carnival weirdness and something akin to the Pogues in a methamphetamine-fueled jam session with In Flames.” Or like the British
tabloid newspaper The Sun wrote: "If Mordor had a premier comedy club, Finntroll would be the resident band."

After a handful of exclusive release shows in May, FINNTROLL are now proud to announce a full length tour to spread blood over Europe. Expect a
spectacular show with old and new classics. Their friends TYR from the Faroe Islands and Skalmõld from Iceland will support them for nights you will
never forget.

An US tour will follow in November. Canadian fans are more lucky and can see

FINNTROLL already in August (see dates here). Stay tuned for more news!

Hatesphere – New album & studio update

11. May 2013

We’ve entered the Antfarm Studio in Denmark with producer Tue Madsen (Moonspell, Sick of it All, The Haunted,DarkTranquillity etc. etc. you know the drill) to begin the recordings of our 8th album. We have worked with Tue on the past many albums as well, and the choice as him as producer was pretty easy. We’ve known and worked with him for many years, and the relaxed but yetprofessional atmosphere this co-operation gives us, makes the best possible album in the end – no doubt about it. The songs sound great, and we can’t wait to share them with all of you. The album HateSphere1will contain 9 new songs and a cover song, and even though the songs are typical HateSphere-tunes there might be a few surprises for you hidden there. More album details will follow shortly.
In the mean time check out this little update from the studio .

Have a nice summer, everybody!

Cheers

LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA – reveal details on the new album

8. May 2013

On Friday, 2nd of August – apposite to their upcoming show at the Wacken Open Air on the next day – LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA will release their new album, concisely entitled »LMO«.

lmo_albumcover2013

During the past month, the three RAGE musicians Victor Smolski (guitar), Peavy Wagner (vocals and bass) and André Hilgers (drums) worked at full stretch to finish their opulent orchestral project that can be considered a continuation of 1996’s »Lingua Mortis« album – back then a true piece of pioneering work.

The entire album was composed by Victor Smolski who cooperated with two orchestras from Spain and Russia, enlarging the number of this mammoth project’s participants to more than 100. Together with long-term co-producer Charlie Bauerfeind (BLIND GUARDIAN, HAMMERFALL among others), Victor Smolski produced and mixed the record in "Twilight Hall Studio" Krefeld, Germany. The final mastering is to be done within the next days.

»LMO« follows an exciting concept on the burning of witches in Gelnhausen in 1599, written by vocalist Peavy Wagner and based on a true story. Apart from the three RAGE musicians, two female vocalists belong to LINGUA MORTIS ORCHESTRA’s regular cast: Jeannette Marchewka and soprano singer Dana Harnge. Guest vocals were contributed by Henning Basse (ex-METALLIUM), among others.

The tracklist of »LMO« reads as follows:

01. Cleansed By Fire
a) Convert The Pagans PT. 1
b) The Inquisition (instrumental)
c) Convert The Pagans PT. 2

02. Scapegoat
03. The Devil´s Bride
04. Lament
05. Oremus (instrumental)
06. Witches` Judge
07. Eye For An Eye
08. Afterglow

The cover artwork was created by Felipe Machado Franco who’s also been responsible for the latest RAGE artwork of »21«. The band photos were shot by Pia Kintrup.

On past Saturday, May 4, the rough mix of »LMO« was presented to a group of international journalists. German ROCK IT MAGAZINE’s journalist Martin Stark describes the record as an "opulent metal opera, more orchestral than anything else, partly heavier than RAGE and melodic beyond my wildest dreams from end to end." GUITAR editor Nico Ernst states: "Never before has the combination of band and orchestra worked that well." METAL.DE writer Florian Schörg takes the thought further and judges: "The perfect symbiosis of two worlds sparkles with both fantastic melodies and heaviness. The gigantic spectrum of emotions can be considered the cream topping on this extraordinarily delicious sound cocktail."

A studio trailer can be watched here: http://youtu.be/sypI7_iM6Xc

»LMO« will be out on August 2 via Nuclear Blast.

FREEDOM CALL – AGES OF LIGHT

16. April 2013

German melodic metal band FREEDOM CALL release their first video from their new best of anniversary double album "Ages Of Light". The song "Rockin`Radio-Killerbilly" shows the band in a different way which was filmed and produced by the german team of Armin Becher and Lucas Fuchs.

http://youtu.be/Iue-BNt6W4c

"Rockin`Radio – Killerbilly" will be released as a digital single on Wednesday April 17th!

This full-to-the-brim best-of release "Ages Of Light" includes 18 classics from their creative career to date, among them ‘We Are One’ from their 1999 debut, the anthemnic ‘Freedom Call’ off Crystal Empire (2001), ‘Warriors’ and ‘Land Of Light’ from their 2002 release Eternity, a live version of ‘Metal Invasion’ and the topical ‘Power & Glory’ off Land Of The Crimson Dawn (2012). "Those 18 numbers are usually celebrated at our gigs, or even requested with a vengeance," explains Chris Bay, who has another real ace up his sleeve: the bonus CD Masqueraded presents six Freedom Call tracks in new and unusual guises: a ska version of ‘Metal-Invasion’, ‘Mr. Evil’ as a melodic reggae track, ‘Hero On Video’ as a speed ska number and ‘Rockin’ Radio’ (which is also supported by a video clip) in a killerbilly version. Masqueraded is complemented by ‘Freedom Call’ in campfire strumming style (including music sheet/tablature) and ‘Age Of The Phoenix’ in a power swing outfit. It would hardly be possible to present these tracks more colourfully or diverse.

Release Dates are: Germany April 26th, Europe April 29th, US/Canada May 07th

FREEDOM CALL – AGES OF LIGHT

5. April 2013

Melodic metal act Freedom Call’s balance sheet is certainly something to be proud of: the group surrounding vocalist/guitarist Chris Bay have released a total of seven studio albums (including their sensational debut Stairway To Fairyland) and two haunting live releases. Freedom Call are also ever-present live on the stage, having toured not only with the likes of Saxon, Edguy, Blind Guardian and Hammerfall, but also having played successful tours in their own right since 2010. The band performed more than 60 shows to support the release of their 2012 album Land Of The Crimson Dawn, among them 25 headliner shows all over Europe. Their exceedingly melodic songs are frequently referred to as "happy metal", and indeed Freedom Call more than deserve the title of "Happiest Metal-Band In The World". The release of Ages Of Light on 29 April 2013 (Germany: 26 April 2013, USA: 7 May 2013) is set to mark their 15th anniversary.

This full-to-the-brim best-of release includes 18 classics from their creative career to date, among them ‘We Are One’ from their 1999 debut, the anthemnic ‘Freedom Call’ off Crystal Empire (2001), ‘Warriors’ and ‘Land Of Light’ from their 2002 release Eternity, a live version of ‘Metal Invasion’ and the topical ‘Power & Glory’ off Land Of The Crimson Dawn (2012). Bay: "Our intention with Masqueraded was to inspire musicians and music fans to create their own, personal version of one of our songs – irrespective of musical style – and send it to us."

Ages Of Light combines not only the essence of the best songs from the seven Freedom Call studio recordings to date, but also marks a meeting of various former and current band members. Along with Chris Bay and guitarist Lars Rettkowitz, three different drummers can be heard on the bonus tracks: founder member Dan Zimmermann, his successors Klaus Sperling, and Ramy Ali, whom fans know from the most recent Freedom Call tour. The two bassists, Samy Saemann and original band member Ilker Ersin, and guitarist Cede Dupont, who was part of Freedom Call between 2001 and 2005, are also featured. "It was great fun to work with old and new friends alike at the studio, turning previously typical Freedom Call numbers into unusual songs," Chris Bay explains, stressing that the group will commence working on a new studio album after the tour in spring 2013: "But first we want to celebrate our anniversary in style!"
