Rage No rest for the wicked! Only two years after the blasting last output "Speak
Of The Dead" and one year after the impressive CD/DVD-set "Live In St.
Petersburg", several tours and festivals, RAGE are back with their newest
effort: "Carved In Stone". While "Speak Of The Dead" continued the symphonic
concept of "Lingua Mortis" from 1996, "Carved In Stone" is a "regular" RAGE
album - but still a special one: It's easily the heaviest one since "Black
in Mind" from 1995. 10 songs, 10 grenades - full throttle ahead! Thrashy,
powerful Metal at it's best!
Again, singer/bass player Peavy Wagner and guitar wizard Victor Smolski are
showing, what an impressive songwriting team they became over the past years
of their collaboration. Also the integration of a new bandmember, drummer
André Hilgers, passed off without any problems: The drumming is full of
fresh ideas, pounding, dynamic and challenging at the same time. RAGE are a
unity again!
This time, the band wanted to focus on straight songs without experiments -
spiced with heavy riffs and haunting melodies. "Carved In Stone" is
unbelievably heavy and catchy at the same time. The band recorded the album
with long time engineer Charly Czajkowski, the mixing duties were once again
overtaken by the legendary Charlie Bauerfeind. Count on a splendid
production. "Carved In Stone" is another milestone in the long-running
history of this german Metal legend and will surely not disappoint any fan!
The Rage story begins way back in 1984, when their debut album "Prayers of
Steel" was released. Albums came out at regular intervals, and Rage toured
Europe indefatigable, making an abidingly and enthusiastic fanbase. Their
1992 album release "Trapped" marked their international breakthrough, tours
through Asia, Russia and South America succeeding regularly after every new
release. With new line-up, Rage realize their work "Lingua Mortis" in 1996,
the first classical album by a German metal act. Following, Rage plus
orchestra did a celebrated tour and played several European festivals. Their
thirteenth album "XIII" saw the light of day in March 1998, marking not only
another highlight in the band's career but also the beginning of a new
chapter in their line-up: the subsequent album "Ghosts" was followed by a
severe personnel change, where guitar player and multiinstrumentalist Victor
Smolski became member of the band. Together with Peavy Wagner, Victor
Smolski is musical head in the current Rage, not possible, imagine Rage
without him.
The new line-up had their baptism of fire at the Wacken Open Air in August
1999, presenting an impressive work with the "Welcome To The Other Side"
album. Their subsequent releases "Unity" and "Soundchaser" met with equally
enthusiastic reactions from press and fans alike, and the appertaining tours
turned into veritable triumphal marches. In 2004 Rage celebrated their 20th
anniversary with "From The Cradle To The Stage", documenting, that no Rage
line-up was as strong a force on stage as the one featuring Wagner, Smolski
and Terrana. The European tour 2004 guaranteed to confirm this impression.
The RAGE album "Speak Of The Dead", which was released in 2006, has also
gone down super at the international press, and during an sold out European
tour, the concert in St.Petersburg was recorded for a live DVD called "Full
Moon In St. Petersburg". Due to personal and musical differences, RAGE split
with Mike Terrana end of 2006, and André Hilgers became new drummer of RAGE.
Andrés first concerts were the shows together with the "Lingua Mortis
Orchestra" in Russia, Ukrain, Czech Republic and also at the "Wacken Open
Air" festival in Germany, where the show infront of 100.000 people was
recorded. This material was used to become a bonus DVD for the upcoming RAGE
studio album"Carved In Stone".
With their new album „STRINGS TO A WEB“ the legendary German Heavy Metal
act RAGE returns with a brandnew masterpiece! Recorded at the „Twilight Hall
Studio“ (BLIND GUARDIAN, SAXON) and produced by Victor Smolski and their
long term friend Charlie Bauerfeind (HAMMERFALL, HELLOWEEN and more),
„STRINGS TO A WEB“ became another brillant highlight in the history of this
outstanding and unique trio. It is a various album, showing all those different
faces of the band, from pure Heavy Metal thunder, through classical and
progressive landscapes, up to powerfull Thrash anthemns.
„STRINGS TO A WEB“ is like a journey through the history of the band, who also
celebrated their 25th anniversary this year. A fresh, both straight and technically
adapted album full of overwhelming emotion and pure magic. Over this quarter of
a century, RAGE went through many changes, but always kept to their roots and
developed their incomparable style. Be sure: There is no doubt that their current
line-up is the strongest and best ever. Peavy’s voice is the main trademark, along
with the guitar wizzard Victor Smolski and power drummer André Hilgers, who
rounds up this „magic trio“.
Enoy melodic hymns like „Into The Light“ or „Hunter And Prey“, as well as
aggressive tracks like „Purified“ and celebrate the opening „The Edge Of
Darkness“. The heart of the album is the 17 minutes track „Empty Hollow“,
divided into five chapters; a progressive and classical masterpiece in the vein of
their „Lingua Mortis Suite“, but even more emotional, abundant and majestic.
The album will be out on February 5th 2010, followed by a headliner tour a month later. The album will be also released as a limited edition digipak, along with a
high quality bonus DVD with 15 songs in total. Main part is the „Wacken“ show
from 2009, a special „Best of“ set featuring many of their eternal classics and
exclusive guests like Schmier („Prayers Of Steel“, „Suicide“, „Down“), Hansi
Kürsch („Set This World On Fire“, All I Want“, „Invisible Horizon“) and rocking
queen Jen Majura („Lord Of The Flies“, „From The Cradle To The Grave“).
In
addition to that you will even find more live clips, filmed at the „Masters of Rock“
and their show in Sofia in 2009. Finally the DVD completes with a short movie
about Victor’s second fascinating passion – be surprised and moreover be sure:
You will get a metallic value for money, that blows you away!!!
